Cleaning questions, answered
Straight answers about MaidEX cleaning in Metro Vancouver — pricing, what's included, booking, insurance and guarantees, plus move-out, recurring, commercial, strata and Airbnb.
Pricing & payment
How much does house cleaning cost in Vancouver?
MaidEX uses flat-rate pricing — pick a home package and you see your exact total, with any extras, before you book. Prices scale by home size, from a studio up to a 4-bedroom home. Hourly cleaning is $37.50/hour for your first clean, 3-hour minimum. See live prices by size on our prices page or build an estimate in the cost calculator.
How much does a cleaning service charge per hour in Vancouver?
Hourly cleaning with MaidEX is $37.50/hour for your first clean, 3-hour minimum (before 5% GST). Most homes are better value on a flat-rate package where you see the full price up front, but hourly suits smaller or in-between jobs where you set the priority list.
How much does cleaning cost by home size (studio, 1, 2, 3-bedroom)?
Standard cleaning is flat-rate by bedrooms and bathrooms, shown before 5% GST: a studio starts lowest and each additional bedroom/bathroom adds to the price. Move-in/out and deep cleans cost more than a standard upkeep clean. See the exact 'from' price for every size on our prices page and the Metro Vancouver price index.
What affects the cost of a house cleaning?
Four things: the size of your home (bedrooms, bathrooms, square footage), the type of clean (standard vs deep vs move-out), any add-ons you choose (on a standard or deep clean — inside oven/fridge, interior windows, changing sheets; inside oven, fridge and cabinets come included as standard on a move-out clean), and how often we come — recurring plans cost less per visit.
Is flat-rate cleaning better than hourly?
For most homes, yes — flat-rate means you see the exact total up front with no clock-watching or surprise charges. Hourly ($37.50/hour for your first clean, 3-hour minimum) is handy for small or partial jobs where you want to direct the priorities yourself.
Is GST included in the price, and do I pay PST?
Prices are shown before 5% GST unless a figure is explicitly labelled 'GST included' — 5% GST is then added at checkout. General house cleaning is PST-exempt in BC, so you never pay the 7% PST — 5% GST is the only tax.
Are cleaning supplies and equipment included in the price?
Yes. Our cleaners arrive fully equipped with professional cleaning products plus a vacuum, mop and microfiber cloths — there's nothing for you to provide. Eco-friendly, pet-safe and low-fragrance options are available on request at no extra charge. Prefer we use your own products? Just add a note when you book.
Are there any hidden fees?
No. You see your full flat-rate price — with any extras — before you book. The only addition is 5% GST at checkout. The one situational fee is a $45 charge if you cancel or reschedule within 24 hours of your appointment.
How do I get an instant cleaning quote?
Use the cost calculator or start a booking — enter your home details and your exact price appears on screen in about 60 seconds. No phone call and no waiting for a quote.
What payment methods do you accept, and when am I charged?
You securely save a payment card when you book (handled by Stripe). You're not charged at booking — your card is charged automatically about 24 hours after the clean is completed, and you receive an itemized receipt/invoice by email.
Is professional house cleaning worth the cost?
For most busy households, yes — you buy back hours, get a consistent professional result, and (on a recurring plan) a home that stays easy to maintain. For a one-off need like a move or an event, a single clean is often the right, cost-effective choice.
What's included
What is included in a standard house cleaning?
A standard clean covers the kitchen, bathrooms, bedrooms and living areas: surfaces dusted, floors vacuumed and mopped, appliance exteriors wiped, mirrors and fixtures cleaned, and trash taken out. It's regular upkeep to keep an already-tidy home fresh.
What is NOT included in a standard clean (and what's an add-on)?
Deeper tasks aren't in a standard clean but can be added: inside the oven, inside the fridge, interior window glass (reachable interior only — exterior windows aren't offered), and heavy build-up. Cabinet fronts, baseboards and detailed bathroom work come with a deep clean.
What's excluded from every clean and can't be added on?
For our cleaners' safety, some things are excluded from all services: animal feces, mold, biohazards or bodily fluids, pest removal/infestation clean-up, the exterior of the home (garage, patio, balcony), moving heavy furniture or appliances (or cleaning behind/beneath items not moved first), window and sliding-door tracks beyond a reachable interior wipe, high or delicate fixtures (ceilings, chandeliers), crawl spaces, dishes (unless you add the dishwasher-load add-on), full washing of ceilings and walls, and hoarding conditions or anything needing specialised remediation.
Can I add extra tasks or customize my clean?
Yes. On a flat-rate package you add optional extras (inside oven/fridge, interior windows, changing bed sheets) when you book. Booking by the hour lets you set the priority list yourself so the team focuses on what matters most to you.
Does a standard clean include inside the fridge, oven or interior windows?
Those are optional paid add-ons on a standard or deep clean — pick them when you book. On a move-in/move-out clean, inside the oven, fridge and cabinets are already included at no extra charge. Exterior window cleaning isn't offered.
Deep cleaning
What is a deep clean and how is it different from a standard clean?
A deep clean is a full reset that covers everything in a standard clean plus the spots a standard skips: cabinet fronts, baseboards, switch plates, door frames, and extra detailed time in the bathrooms and kitchen. First-time and seasonal cleans are usually deep cleans.
How long does a deep clean take and how often should I get one?
A deep clean typically takes longer than a standard clean — roughly a half-day for an average home, depending on size and condition. Most homes benefit from a deep clean every 3–6 months, or once before starting a recurring plan to set the baseline.
Does a deep clean include baseboards, cabinets and window tracks?
Yes to baseboards, cabinet fronts, door frames and switch plates. Inside cabinets and interior window glass/tracks are available as add-ons. Exterior windows aren't offered.
Move-out & move-in cleaning
How much does move-out cleaning cost in Vancouver?
Move-out/move-in cleaning is priced by home size with a 30% move-out discount applied, shown before 5% GST — a studio starts lowest, rising through 1, 2, 3 and 4-bedroom homes. See the exact price for each size on the move-out prices page.
What's included in a move-out clean (and what isn't)?
A move-out clean is a top-to-bottom reset of an empty home: kitchen and appliance exteriors, bathrooms, all floors, baseboards, walls dusted and doors wiped, vents and ceilings. Inside the oven, fridge, cabinets, dishwasher and behind accessible appliances are included at no extra charge. Interior window cleaning (reachable glass, sills and vacuumed tracks) is a paid add-on, and exterior window cleaning isn't offered; carpet steam-cleaning isn't part of the clean (arrange that separately if your tenancy requires it); and outdoor areas — balconies, patios and garages — aren't included, since the exterior of the home is excluded from all cleans.
Do you steam-clean carpets for a move-out?
No — carpet steam-cleaning isn't part of a MaidEX move-out clean. We vacuum carpets thoroughly; if your tenancy requires professional carpet steam-cleaning (common for tenancies over a year), you'd arrange that separately with a carpet specialist.
How long does a move-out clean take and how many cleaners come?
A move-out clean is our most detailed residential clean, so it takes longer than a standard clean — often most of a day for a larger home. We typically send a team so the empty unit is done efficiently in one visit.
Does the home need to be empty, and when should I schedule it?
Yes — book the clean once your furniture is out so we can reach behind appliances, inside closets and along every baseboard and window sill. Schedule it after the movers leave and before your final walkthrough, usually the last day or two of the tenancy.
Will a move-out clean help me get my damage deposit back, and do I get a receipt?
A professional clean removes the most common reason landlords hold back a deposit, and you receive an itemized emailed receipt/invoice you can forward as proof the unit was professionally cleaned. It can't guarantee the deposit (that also depends on damage and the condition report), but it takes cleaning off the table as an excuse. BC only requires the unit be left 'reasonably clean.'
Booking & scheduling
How do I book, and can I see the price before booking?
Book entirely online in about 60 seconds — choose your service, add extras, pick your date, and see your exact price before you enter any payment details. No phone call and no waiting for a quote.
How far in advance should I book — can you come same-day or tomorrow?
We usually have same-week availability, 7 days a week across Metro Vancouver, and same-day or next-day slots are sometimes open depending on your area. Enter your postal code when you book to see the earliest available dates and time windows.
Can I choose the date and time?
Yes — pick your date and a morning, afternoon or evening window when you book.
Can I reschedule or cancel, and is there a fee?
Yes — manage your booking online. A $45 fee applies only if you cancel or reschedule within 24 hours of your appointment; outside that window there's no charge.
Do I get a receipt or invoice?
Yes — you get a booking confirmation, and an itemized receipt/invoice by email after the clean, which you can forward to a landlord, employer or property manager.
Before your clean & access
How should I prepare, and do I need to tidy first?
Just clear away clutter and valuables from the surfaces you want cleaned so the team can work efficiently — you don't need to pre-clean. Our guide on preparing for a house cleaner walks through it.
Do I need to be home, and how do cleaners get in?
You don't need to be home. Most customers leave entry instructions — a key, lockbox code, buzzer/door code or concierge — and come home to a clean space. Our cleaners are insured and background-checked, and we follow your access and lock-up instructions.
Are my keys and access codes kept secure?
Yes — access details are used only to complete your clean and are kept confidential. Many customers use a lockbox or building code so no physical key changes hands.
What should I do about pets and parking?
Let us know about pets when you book — our teams are comfortable working around cats and dogs, and we offer pet-friendly cleaning. For condos, note any parking or service-elevator instructions in your booking so the team can plan access.
Can I request eco-friendly, fragrance-free or my own products?
Yes. MaidEX uses professional cleaning products, and eco-friendly, pet-safe and low-fragrance options are available on request at no extra charge. If you'd prefer unscented options, or want us to use your own products for allergies or sensitivities, add a note when you book and we'll accommodate where we can.
Trust & guarantee
Is MaidEX insured and are cleaners background-checked?
Yes — MaidEX is fully insured and every cleaner is background-checked, so you can feel comfortable giving access to your home. Our cleaners follow standardized checklists and training so the result is consistent.
What happens if something is damaged or missed?
Tell us within 24 hours. We're fully insured, so genuine damage is handled through our coverage. If something was missed, our 100% satisfaction guarantee means we return and re-clean it free within 24 hours.
Is there a satisfaction guarantee?
Yes — a 100% satisfaction guarantee. If any area isn't right, let us know within 24 hours and we'll re-clean it at no extra cost.
Will I get the same cleaner each time?
On a recurring plan we aim to send the same trusted cleaner or team so they get to know your home and preferences. Occasionally schedules mean a change, but consistency is the goal.
Recurring cleaning
How much do recurring customers save?
Recurring plans save on every clean from your second visit: 15% weekly, 10% bi-weekly, or 5% monthly. New customers save 25% on their first clean with code FIRST25.
How much does weekly, bi-weekly or monthly cleaning cost?
It's your flat-rate home price with the recurring discount applied from the 2nd clean — 15% off weekly, 10% off bi-weekly, 5% off monthly. Build your exact recurring price in the cost calculator or on the recurring cleaning page.
Which cleaning frequency is best?
Weekly suits busy households, pets or allergies; bi-weekly is the most popular balance of upkeep and value; monthly works for tidy homes that need a periodic reset. Our weekly-vs-bi-weekly-vs-monthly guide breaks it down room by room.
Can I pause, skip, change or cancel a recurring plan?
Yes — recurring plans are flexible, not a lock-in. You can skip a visit when you're away, change your frequency, pause the plan, or cancel, with 24 hours' notice.
Do I need a deep clean before starting recurring service?
If your home hasn't been professionally cleaned recently, we recommend starting with a deep clean to set the baseline — then each recurring visit maintains it instead of playing catch-up.

Office, commercial & strata
How much does office cleaning cost and how is it priced?
Office cleaning starts at $150/visit + GST, priced by square footage with volume rates that drop as the space grows, plus how often you clean and the scope. Small offices get an instant online price and can book directly; larger or specialized spaces get a custom quote after a scope review.
Can you clean after-hours, early mornings, evenings or weekends — with no staff present?
Yes — commercial cleaning is scheduled around your business, including after-hours, early mornings, evenings and weekends. Our insured, background-checked cleaners are trusted with keys and alarm codes to clean when your team isn't there.
What kinds of businesses do you clean?
Offices, retail stores, coworking spaces, dental and medical clinics, restaurants and cafés (front-of-house), gyms and fitness studios, daycares, real-estate offices, and strata/common areas. Each has a dedicated page with what's included.
What is strata cleaning and how is it priced?
Strata cleaning covers building common areas — lobbies, hallways, elevators, stairwells, amenity rooms, parkades and garbage/recycling rooms — on a set schedule. It's custom-quoted with a proposal, priced by the building's size, areas and frequency. We work with strata councils and property managers, can service multiple properties, and provide consolidated invoicing.
Do you provide cleaning reports and report maintenance issues?
Yes — every visit can be photo-documented, and with the MaidEX Spot Report our cleaners flag any building or maintenance issue they notice during a clean, so property managers and strata councils always know what was done and what needs attention.
Airbnb & short-term rentals
Do you offer Airbnb turnover cleaning, and can you clean same-day between guests?
Yes — hotel-style turnovers timed to your checkout and check-in, including same-day turnarounds where the schedule allows. We reset the space, remake beds with the clean linens you provide, refresh the bathroom and kitchen, and restock host-provided guest basics.
Do you change linens, restock supplies and report damage?
Yes — we remake beds with the clean linens you provide on-site and set out clean towels, restock host-provided toiletries and guest supplies, and report any damage or missing items with photos so you can act before the next guest. Laundry washing and drying isn't included — arrange laundering separately. We can manage multiple properties and recurring turnovers.
Post-construction & renovation
What does post-construction cleaning cover, and how is it different from a deep clean?
It's the final detail after a build or renovation: removing fine construction and drywall dust from every surface, collecting small, non-hazardous cleaning debris from accessible floors and bins, wiping walls, trim, cabinet fronts and fixtures, detailing kitchens and bathrooms, and a full floor clean. Heavy construction debris, packaging removal, hauling and disposal aren't included. Unlike a deep clean (a detailed clean of a lived-in home), a post-construction clean targets the fine dust and residue a project leaves on every surface.
How much does post-construction cleaning cost and when should it be scheduled?
Because dust levels, size and stage vary so much, post-construction cleaning is custom-quoted — start a booking for a standard estimate or call for a tailored quote. Schedule the final clean once construction is finished (we can also do a rough clean mid-project), timed to your handover or move-in date.
Seniors, events & special situations
Do you clean for seniors, and can a family member book on their behalf?
Yes — we offer senior home cleaning and a family member can arrange and pay for it. We work around routines and mobility aids, and can set up a recurring schedule.
Can you clean after a party, before guests arrive, or for a move?
Yes — a one-time clean is perfect before hosting, after an event, or for a move. Landlords, realtors and property managers can also book on behalf of tenants or sellers (see pre-listing and property-manager cleaning).
Do you offer gift certificates?
Not yet — MaidEX doesn't currently offer gift certificates. If you'd like to arrange a clean for someone else, you can book on their behalf and enter their address and access details.
